“Wyczółkowski rediscovered” is a new temporary exhibition of the Wawel Royal Castle, which we can admire until August 18, 2022. In December 2021, a pastel lost during World War II returned to Wawel with the double title Góralka / Country Girl in a Yellow Headscarf by Leon Wyczółkowski (1852 –1936). This important event became the inspiration for the exhibition composed around three issues: war losses and the process of their search, the figure of Leon Piniński – his collection and activities for Wawel, and the Wawel Hill itself and its architecture as a constantly present motif in Wyczółkowski’s work. For many years associated with Krakow, the outstanding painter, draftsman and graphic artist often showed the historic architecture of the city.
