Genius loci. Place – people – harvest

The exhibition is available until January 7, 2024 at the Jan Matejko House branch of the National Museum in Krakow. In 2023, there are several important anniversaries related to Jan Matejko – an outstanding painter distinguished for Polish and European culture: the 185th anniversary of his birth, the 130th anniversary of his death and the 125th anniversary of the opening of the first biographical museum in Poland dedicated to the artist. The exhibition is a reflection on civic attitudes in nineteenth-century society and an innovative approach to the fact of commemorating an outstanding and popular artist.
