The 15th century Altarpiece at St. Mary’s Basilica in Krakow, Poland is now back after 5-year conservation. An international team of restorers managed to bring its beauty back from the Middle Ages.
We are so happy to have it at the fingertips.
The altarpiece was carved between 1477 and 1489 by the German sculptor Veit Stoss who lived and worked in the city for over 20 years.
The main scene shows the Dormition of Saint Mary in the presence of the Twelve Apostles. 18 scenes on the wings (shut and opened) present Mysteries of Rosary. 13 metres high and 11 metres wide altarpiece made from linden and oak wood is undoubtedly a breathtaking highlight
of Krakow, visited and admired by millions of tourists every year. Please put it on Your must-see list while planning Your trip to Krakow and always visit with the licensed guide.
We are looking forward to showing the Altar to our guests.
